Unfortunately, I see we are not alone in subject matter. Have owned vehicle since Oct. 2010. Nov. 2013 was our first sunroof leak, thinking it was a windshield issue. Had that checked out (and, of course, charged for a sealing), but a few weeks later, dealership ran thru garage car wash and had the same problem of leaking thru sunroof, passenger front side! When I look back, there was definitely some whooshing-water like sounds before the first few times the leak happened. Little did I know what the cause and effect would eventually surface.
Now barely five months later, the leak is back. Mind you, not having used the sunroof for most of that time due to this years brutual winter (hello?). First repair, which the dealership said they did not repair, but rather fixed, (same thing), was to clean out gutter/tubing. Now, May 2014 the same issue, and again, they did not "repair" it, but rather again clean out the tubing and put some silicone on the rubber gasket area. Big deal! Stood my ground and debated with service manager that we should not pay again five months later for the same defect. He eventually agreed but was not happy he lost.
We feel it will happen again especially since the manager quizzed us whether the vehicle sat inside most of the time (which it does, but it should not matter) and suggested too not to run it thru power car washes as a suggestion. We don't mind checking now to keep "debris" out of it, but have never had this issue with any of our other older and newer vehicles with sunroofs. We have already sunk a lot of money into this vehicle unfortunately and don't feel we should have to yet again pay for a defective design.
I have already submitted a note to Saturn ([email protected]) and GM ([email protected]). They have both responded in the past on other expensive issues not covered. Will keep searching this forum for any/all suggestions on how to fight if needed and/or to keep the sunroof from leaking. Thank you to any/all for responding!
