(January 5th - I had mine in again last week because of a leak again. It was the luggage rails. The way the sit, the rubber gaskit does not sit flush with the roof (it hangs over a narrow valley (for lack of a better word) and allows water to get up inside the bracket and run down the screw holes. They went through and sealed all of the screw holes with silicone, which should do the trick. From what I understand they have corrected the problem with the sunroofs in the 08's with a correct size drain tube. I would go for it.)

khansen30, did they seal the screw holes from the inside or the outside?, or did they take the screws out and put sealant in the holes and then put the scews back in? Also is there a nut that holds the screws in place or are there threaded inserts welded to the underside of the roof? Did they take the screws out of the whole entire bracket or just the front? :help:

I have no idea, I just know that it is not leaking from there any more. I can tell you that they did not seal the gasket, I can't see any silicone.

hello all,
This seems like such a common problem, I hope you can get it resolved soon.

I bet there are many forum posts devoted just to this issue----have you checked around for more tips?

All in all, it is a great vehicle don't you think?

Have the recall work done and you will not have the problem. GM knows why they leak and have a fix for it. EVERY car has issues (Japanese too) and GM stood behind this one.

Hi guys,

Go on over to the Enclave Forum and you'll see that it is not necessarily solved on the '08's. True, GM changed the drain tubes in the sunroof, but there are several people that are still having leakage and the points of entry are not clear. There are several threads on it. The good news, as pointed out, is that it does appear that GM is actively trying to remedy it, but customers are on their 4th and 5th trips to the dealer and it continues.

With the 08's it depends on the build date. The early ones built at the end of 07 and up to about March of 08 had the problems.

Points of leakage:
Driver and passenger side drain tubes on the sides of the sunroof in between the sunroof and moonroof
Luggage rack brackets
Behind the dash on the passenger side - yes there is part of the drain tube there as well
Also note, the drain tubes can get clogged with leaves and other junk that come in when the vehicle is parked and the sunroof is open. This has happened to me 2 times and the dealer fixed both times at no charge, when he should have charged.

But once fixed, I have not had any more problems.
