I was wondering what most people are getting for their trades compared to what KBB or Edmunds is saying it is worth? Anyone getting more?

In our area (DM Metro), you generally do better selling to either Carmax or webuycars.org than you would get at most dealerships. About 2 years ago, we sold a 5 yr old VW Beetle GTX turbo for ~$9000, about $200 more than the KBB value. That's my only experience in the last 5 years or so...

We went in to the Saturn dealer today to get our 04 Jeep Grand Cherokee appraised and we were not happy. :( They only offered us $10,500. They ended up offering 11K. We said no that we would try Carmax or try to sell it out right. It only has 38k on it and it is in excellent condition. Locally Jeeps are listed between 15-16k, so we figured 13k or at least 12k wouldn't be out of the question. Especially since Saturn won't budge on their MSRP.

This evening we did get over to Carmax and they offered us $11,500. They said that yes it is in great condition and the miles are low, but SUVs aren't selling.

We only owe about 9k on it, but we were hoping to have a little more then we have saved to put down on the Outlook. We have 2 weeks before the Outlook is suppose to come in, lets hope we can sell the Jeep quick!

We were offered 200% of KBB value on our 99 Ford Ranger XLT that we traded in. It had 140k on the dial, plenty of paint issues (no rust, though), needed a tune up and brakes. KBB said 2500, they gave us 5k! :thumb:
That's why we have a Saturn above the GMC or Buick, aside from price. GMC offered 3k max, Buick laughed about it.

This the one area where Saturn can deal. They can't dicker on the new car, but they can sure inflate your trade-in value.
