I just purchased a 2009 Buick Enclave, I absolutely love this vehicle.
But, it started doing something strange the other day.
When I come to a stop, and go to take off again, it's as if the transmission is in neutral. The engine just revs up and vehicle doesn't move. This doesn't happen all the time, but too much for my liking. Then, sometimes, as you're revving the engine, it will pop into gear and the vehicle lurches forward. This also happens in reverse. When it happens, I try to move the shift lever to park, reverse, drive, and nothing.. engine just revs up until it decides to engage and lurch. Sometime it jumps back into gear in 20 seconds, sometimes it takes about a minute. I've even tried shutting off the engine and restarting.
Now, when I drove this vehicle home, approx 200 miles, from the dealer where I purchased it, it performed flawlessly! not a single hint of any problems. It seems to shift very smoothly between gears when driving.
So, after this occurred, I checked the transmission fluid level, and it seemed a bit too high, so I drained some off until the level read correctly. The fluid looked fine, not burnt or dark with debris. I thought perhaps I found the problem. However, I took it to work today, and it did the same thing several times today.
I also connected my scan tool, and it read no codes. None! At the end of the day, I stopped by the local Buick dealer and they scanned it with their tool. Again, no codes.
Anyone experience something like this? Is this a common problem or something unusual? Huh?
Thanks for any thought or suggestions!

You could very well be experiencing a failing wave plate. Since you are second owner the Buick people likely don't know where to send you a letter about the special coverage (10 years, 120,000 miles) recently announced. The coverage is VIV specific, so you need to check that out.
