I have a portable GPS I always leave in the car, plugged in. In my Honda Accord, when the key is taken from the car, the 12V power supply cuts the power too. This will automatically shuts off the GPS that's plugged into the socket.

The Outlook however, leaves the power on in the socket, even after the key is off and car locked. The GPS stays on unless I pull the power plug from the socket. I fear one day I may forget to unplug and come back find myself a dead battery.

Is there anyway to shut off the 12 V power supply when the key's off?

Thank you.

Mine cuts the power to all plugs when I open the front door and the key is out. They don't even come on with remote start. What year do you have, they have changed it for the 08's.

Really? I have a 08 XE AWD. I just tied. Key off, door opened, I got out, lock the door, the power is still there...

I also rented one this year in May an XR FWD. I assume it must have been an 07 model sine it was in May. Same deal, power not out when key off door locked.

Could there be some setup to change?

khansen30, may I ask for a favor? Could you double check the 12V power plug (the one under the HVAC control) and make sure that the power is indeed cut off on your vehicle? I know mine doesn't cut off. If yours indeed cut it off, that means that there is a way to do it. I would really like to know.

Thank you!

My bad, sorry. I assumed it was the same for the 12v outlets as the 115v plug. The plug turns off like I said, but not the outlets. Anything I use in mine is either 115v or battery operated. Sorry for the confusion.
