spendmoney,
My steel open car hauler weighs right near 1,750 lbs. My '09 Saturn has the factory trailer towing package rated @ 5,200 lbs. My Vette weighs right @ 3,000 lbs. Figure people (at least 2 @ 400 lbs. + some tools/stuff and I'm right at my limit, but OK. If yours is the factory trailer towing package installed, your definitely 1 up on those folks who just add a hitch. You've got the heavy duty radiator/cooling package, trans cooler and the tow button as well as the hitch/trailer lite plug package. With all that being said, if you are fortunate enough to have one of those aluminum lite weight trailers (right around 900 to 1,100 lbs), you can see that you would be right at your towing limit. Towing a vehicle of that weight, your trailer should have electric brakes on both axles. Not certain how far you are towing and if you're into hills etc..., but you are at your limit towing that much with an ideal light weight trailer.
Just some cautioneries to consider: Trailer brakes, 6 ply trailer tires, and a weight distribution hitch over and above staying within your towing weight limits.
Here's a pic of my setup all hooked up on my way to the strip.
Good luck!
Regards,
Jim
