This weekend marked the end of the road for our Lambda ownership. I traded our 2010 Saturn Outlook on a 2007 Toyota Prius Touring. Our Outlook served us well for the 3 years and 4 months we had her, and I will miss it. But, we no longer need a big SUV and we really wanted to lower our car payment and our gas expense. The Prius will do both and will save us probably $400 a month.

We paid $29,700 for it in June of 2010 and got $15,500 on trade. Here's my aCar summary for the car:

_________________________________________________
Total running costs:
$14,279.98

Running cost per mile:
$0.212

Total cost of ownership:
$28,479.98

Total cost of ownership per mile:
$0.412

Total Distance:
71,067

Miles per day:
58

Average MPG:
17.543

Min MPG:
10.882 (towing)

Max MPG:
23.844
_________________________________________________

$0.412 cents per mile is higher than I wanted (my Odyssey was $0.256), but we didn't own it nearly as long as I had planned. We essentially owned it for the most expensive years of it's life.

It was time to move on, and so we have. I may pop in here now and then, but not likely often. I'll be hanging around priuschat.com more, learning all about my new ride.

Thanks to all here who were helpful as I was buying and throughout the years. It's a good community.

Yep. We bought it to tow a camper, and have since decided to stop camping. In addition, our oldest is now in college and not riding with us near as much, so room for 5 isn't required anymore. Given that, a mid size sedan makes a lot of sense. The Prius is actually very similar in interior space to an Accord or Camry, just a touch smaller. Hard to argue with 45 MPG. ;D

How many miles? That seems very good, especially if by 'last February' you mean 2013.

Around here 2010 Outlook XRs with higher milage (70K+, mine had 83K) are listened between $19K and $21K at dealers. I had it listed on C/L for $16,800 and got only a couple calls, no lookers. $15,500 on trade was right at KBB. CarMax offered $14K, other dealers were at $13,500.

48K, Feb of 2013. Had mine on CL off and on for 6 months and no calls either except for scammers.

The mileage likely makes a big difference and because you were trading on a new vehicle (I found your post from Feb.), the dealer might have had more room to give you more on trade, depending on your purchase price. It may be that the bottom has dropped out of the market on Outlooks. Any idea what they put it up for sale for? I keep looking for mine and it hasn't hit their web site yet. Maybe they auctioned it, but I'd be surprised.

All that said you did quite well, congrats. :thumb:

That had it for 21,400 for 2 weeks then dropped it to 20,800 for a week then it got sold. I was in a week later and the sales guy told me they didn't make a lot of $$$ on it. My guess is they sold it for real close to 20K.

They broke even at best.

I expect mine will get listed at around $19,000. This dealer (an Autonation franchise) typically lists just under KBB. KBB retail on it is $19,500.

just keep searching for the vehicles VIN online.

Last year bro traded in his Saturn VUE- Hybrid on a 2012 Traverse.

Immidiately we could see it online for sale.

I Just googled the vin- and noticed that 20,000 miles later--- it was being sold again at a Local Toyota dealer/ebay.

What do you know, there it is. Not on their web site yet, but here for $18K! I'm surprised it's that low.

Still hasn't hit their web site, but the link I posted above and this ad at aol autos shows it at almost $19,000 now, which is closer to where I figured it'd be.

We're enjoying our Prius, but it made me a bit sad looking at those pictures. :'(

LOL, yeah. I don't come around as often, but I did love my Outlook. It served us well.

Funny, it took over a month for it to appear on their web site and Autotrader, appearing just before Thanksgiving. Now, it's already reduced over $3K to $15,888, just $388 more than they gave me for it. And, the Carfax indicates that they put brakes on all 4 wheels. Ouch.

Not making much on that deal I guess.
